The 1926 General Strike in Bristol: Rob Whitfield
Tue 21st Apr 2026 7.00pm Clifton Library

In Bristol the dockers stopped working, very few trains ran in or out of Temple Meads and the electrical power station struggled to keep going. The trams continued to run and the two main local newspapers managed to put out skeleton editions. This talk will focus on the events of 4th to 12th May 1926 in Bristol and attempt to put this story into a wider, national context.
This event starts at 7pm with the doors and bar opening at 6.30pm
